We searched our own job list tonight, 10 October 2026. There are 354 live jobs on it, and every one is at a company that is on the Home Office register of licensed sponsors. The edition behind tonight's list was published on 9 October 2026 and names 127,403 licensed sponsors.
Last night we looked at care. Tonight we looked at engineering and software. Our search treats engineer, engineering and developer as one family, so this is what came back.
Of the 85 engineering jobs, 41 were found in the last seven days and 5 were found today. So almost half of what you see tonight was not on the list a week ago.
Today's five include systems engineer roles in Oxford and Portsmouth, and a junior AI data engineer role in London. If you looked last week and nothing fitted, it is worth looking again.
20 of the 85 adverts put a figure on the pay. All 20 say £30,000 a year or more, and 18 of them say £40,000 or more. The other 65 do not say what they pay. That is common in this kind of work and it is not the same as paying less.
Some of tonight's adverts, as they are written. A senior developer in Cardiff, £40,559 to £48,841 a year. A lead embedded software engineer in Wotton Under Edge, £55,000. A junior AI data engineer in London, £60,000.
GOV.UK says the usual Skilled Worker minimum is the higher of £41,700 a year and the going rate for the work. Each job code has its own going rate, and GOV.UK publishes them in one table.
So for an engineering or software job there are two numbers to check, not one. Is the pay £41,700 or more. And is it at or above the going rate for that job code. An advert that says £40,000 can be under the line for a new visa, even though it is a good wage.
The rules can be different if you are extending a visa you already have, or changing job on one. GOV.UK explains those cases on the same page.
What is the annual salary for this role. Which job code does the company use for it. Does the company sponsor a Skilled Worker visa for this role. A serious employer will answer all three, usually in the first reply.
Searching the list is free, with no account and no password. Type engineer, developer, data or software into the search and the jobs are there tonight. When one fits, apply direct to the employer, on the employer's own website.
