UK Update30 September 2026

660 of tonight's 812 sponsor jobs do not say what they pay

We counted our own job list tonight, 30 September 2026. There are 812 live jobs on it, every one at a company that was on the Home Office register this morning. 42 of them appeared today and 355 in the last seven days.

Of those 812, only 152 say what the job pays. The other 660 do not put a number on the advert at all.

That is the part worth stopping on. Pay is not a detail on a sponsored job. It is the thing the visa is decided on.

Why the missing number matters

For a Skilled Worker visa there is a salary floor. GOV.UK puts the general one at £41,700 a year, or the going rate for that occupation, whichever is higher.

It is not one flat number for everybody. Health and care roles and education roles are measured against national pay scales instead, and each occupation has its own going rate. So a nurse and a software engineer are not held to the same figure.

Which means the salary on an advert never settles your case by itself. But without it you cannot even start. You are guessing at the one number the decision rests on.

No salary on the advert does not mean bad pay

We want to be clear about this, because it is easy to read the silence as a warning. It usually is not one.

Plenty of employers leave pay off every advert as a matter of habit. Some post one advert for a grade that covers a range. Some are waiting to see who applies. NHS trusts and councils often point at a band instead of a figure, and the band is public.

Of the 152 jobs on our list that do state pay, 146 are at £25,000 a year or more, 104 at £30,000 or more, and 70 at £40,000 or more. Only six sit below £25,000. That is what the ones who tell you look like. We have no reason to think the quiet ones are worse, and we will not pretend we know.

The one question to ask, before you spend a week on it

Send it in the first message, in the application, or on the phone. It is a normal question and a serious employer will answer it.

What is the annual salary for this role, and does the company sponsor a Skilled Worker visa for it.

Both halves matter. A company can hold a sponsor licence and still not sponsor this particular job. A licence is permission to sponsor somebody. It is never a promise to sponsor you.

If you get no answer to a plain question about pay, you have learned something useful and it cost you one message.

What our list does with it

Our pay filter never hides jobs quietly. Choose £30,000 or more and the page tells you, in words, how many jobs it just put away because the advert said nothing, with a link to bring them back. Tonight that number is 660.

We read 47,876 adverts in the last scan to get to those 812. Looking is free, there is no account and no password, and you apply direct to the employer on their own website. We are not an agency and we never touch your application.

And the rule that never changes. Nobody may charge you for a certificate of sponsorship. Selling one is a criminal offence in the UK.

We are a job alert service, not immigration advisers, and this is not legal advice. For your own case speak to a regulated adviser or a support organisation.
